REPORTING TO: Captain, Superintendent and to ICT Department (ashore) for related communication Officer tasks. SHORT DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTION: The vessel Communication Officer / Administrator is providing administrative services to the Captain and Superintendent and responsible for the daily operation of all communication and office equipment on-board. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Proactively contribute to the safety regime on the vessel. 2. Carry out other related tasks when required by management. 3. Handle external daily telephone, fax and email traffic on behalf of Captain and Superintendent. 4. Operate the vessel’s maritime communication equipment. 5. Operate the vessel’s maritime helicopter communication equipment. 6. Coordinate helicopter traffic with helibase on shore and aircraft in the flight. 7. Perform maintenance and repair of internal and external communication equipment (a.o. GMDSS, VSAT, INMARSAT, TVRO, VHF, PA, HMS, telephone). 8. Perform installation, maintenance and basic repairs of bridge navigational equipment. 9. Perform installation, maintenance and basic repairs of office network equipment and clients in close cooperation with the ICT Department ashore. 10. Perform helpdesk duties for users on board. 11. Use the company’s planned maintenance procedures for planning and registration of activities. 12. Take care of the distribution of project documentation as instructed by the Superintendent. 13. Assist Captain/Superintendent with the planning and preparation crewing schedules. 14. Take care of documentation archiving. 15. Take care and distribute minutes of meetings as instructed by Captain/Superintendent. 16. Handle all personal data of the vessel crew, including certification, training, travel requirements etc. in liaison with Operation Department. 17. Ensure the timely collection of personnel timesheets in conjunction with HR Department. 18. Assist Captain regarding port clearance. 19. Collectively handless daily reports of all departments. 20. Coordinate travel from/to vessel with local agent and in conjunction with Operations Department. 21. Tracking on/off data and working hours of vessel crew.
